(Here are some clips of the amazing Empire Of The Sun live show)

Empire Of The Sun is the fantastic creation of Luke Steele from Indie Rock outfit The Sleepy Jackson and Nick Littlemore from Electronica duo Pnau.  They imagine the band as a visual experience as well as a musical one, using elaborately decorated costumes and sets that place you in their futuristic, tribal world.  Empire’s music is like the poppy psychedelia of MGMT, if the guitars were traded for synths and the beats were pushed further into the realms of Electronica.

‘Standing On The Shore’ opens with dreamy melodies, Steele’s single colorful guitar line, throbbing bass, pulsing future disco beats, and ghostly vocal harmonies, “Toto, I don’t think we’re in Kansas anymore.”

‘Walking On A Dream’ has wonderful synths that loop around themselves weaving fluffy clouds of sound to float you around their world.  A masterclass in Electropop!
