Enjoy some live Mariachi El Bronx below:

This is a really unique album.  Personally, I have never owned any Mariachi music before.  I like it and it fits well when in Mexico enjoying lobster and a bevy.  But when, one of my favorite bands, The Bronx decide they love Mariachi and want to form Mariachi El Bronx, I love it!  Really, this album is great and perfect when you want to put something on that sounds different from anything else in your collection.

Normally, Matt is known for his bowl-releasing roars in The Bronx.  Here he proves he has a very pure vocal tone, which suits El Bronx well.  Also, all of the songs are sung in English, so feel free to sing along.

Songs like “Cell Mates” and “Quinceniera” sound like classic pops songs with a Mariachi makeover.  “Silver or Lead” starts off with a couple of horn lines that could be right at home on Ozomatli’s debut.

I can’t wait to see this band live.  Maybe Mariachi El Bronx will open for The Bronx, if we could only be so lucky.

Take a listen and leave a comment.
